Canon Extender EF 2x III
This lens is only compatible with fixed focal length L-series lenses 135mm and over, as well as the EF 70-200/2.8L, EF 70-200/2.8L IS, EF 70-200/4L, and EF 100-400/4.5-5.6L. Additionally, please see the lens and/or camera body manual for full compatibility information with the Extender EF 2X III. The Canon EF 2x III Extender extends the focal length of Canon tele- and telezoom lenses to double the original value. The primary gain is a longer focal length, resulting in a narrower angle of view for a longer zoom and a tighter framing of the subject. On the flipside it decreases the maximum possible aperture, increases lens aberrations/flaws in the final image and adds some size and weight to the camera setup. The ratio of the aperture and focal length is reduced by 2 stops, thus allowing only 1/4 much light into the exposure. Lens electronics like autofocus, image stabilization and focal length metadata function normally, because the signals are passed through the extender to the DSLR. An example focal length conversion with the 2x extender would be that a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 is equivalent with a Canon EF 140-400mm f/5.6 lens.
